Show Critique 17-08-2014 Dogs

S.B.T.C. OF SOUTH WALES. OPEN SHOW 17/08/2014

I really enjoyed the day judging my first S.B.T. club show. Many thanks to the officers and committee for giving me the opportunity to do so, also thank you to the exhibitors for taking my decisions in a sporting manner.

VETERAN DOG

  1. Russell’s Mr Jack Obee Boy. Shown in really hard condition, a good head shape and small well positioned ears, muscular neck going into correct shoulders, good spring of rib, level top line, strong quarters, hocks well let down, good movement, a tight coat that gleamed, never stopped showing. Best Veteran in show.
  2. Thomas’ Selwyn Jones for Gazstaff. Nice type of dog with small dark eye, plenty of stop, short in muzzle, true front, good bone, a strong neck and good shoulders, deep in brisket, ribbed well back, a little longer in loin than 1.Correct tail carriage, good bend of stifle, moved and showed.

MINOR PUPPY DOG

  1. Hirst & Bibby’s Taraiel Busta Rhymes. Very raw puppy but moved ok when settled. Enough bone, nice head shape with more to come, correct bite, small dark eye and good ear carriage, good neck and shoulders, short coupled with level top line, good quarters with more muscle to come, good coat texture, never stopped showing a real handful for his owner.
  2. Bibby’s Taraiel Tinie Tempah. Litter brother to number 1, not as far forward, good front, pleasing head with plenty of stop, small dark eye, good lay back of shoulder, level top line, short coupled, well padded feet, movement could improve once he has muscled up, showed ok.
  3. Beaufoy’s Wyrefare Mr. Jim.

PUPPY DOG

  1. Lewis’ Kentstars Apollo. Caught my eye as he entered the ring, full of quality, wide front, correct head with plenty of stop, good cheek muscles, small ears, strong neck and correct shoulders, good spring of rib going well back to a strong loin, nice bend of stifle, hocks well let down, moved with drive, shown in really hard condition, never stopped showing. Best Puppy in show.
  2. Freeman & Davies’ Samtan Simba’s Legacy. A strong head and good bone, nice short muscular neck, deep brisket, good top line, a little longer cast than 1. Strong quarters, shown in hard condition, moved and showed ok.
  3. Francis’ Bold And Fearless Fanatic Richie Crazy Legs Franco.

JUNIOR DOG

  1. Freeman & Davies’ Samtan Simba’s Legacy.
  2. Lavington’s Caymenstaffs One In A Million. Pleasing head and eye, correct bite, enough neck, shoulders could be better, well bodied with strong muscular rear, hocks well let down, tight coat, moved with drive.
  3. Tooze’s Afanstaff Magnis Magic.

MAIDEN DOG

  1. Hirst & Bibby’s Taraiel Busta Rhymes.
  2. Bibby’s Taraiel Tinie Tempah.
  3. Jones’ Calyx.

NOVICE DOG

  1. Hirst & Bibby’s Taraiel Busta Rhymes.
  2. Meek & Hale’s Stan’s Feeling Blue Stan. Good front and strong bone, a pleasing head and muscular neck, correct shoulders and level top line, a bit long in body, good quarters, hocks well let down, shown in hard condition, moved well.
  3. Jones’ Calyx.

POST GRADUATE DOG

  1. Cockings Welshstaff Abracadabra. Good head with plenty of stop, small ears, well muscled cheeks, enough neck into well placed shoulders, deep in brisket, ribbed well back, short loin, muscular quarters, shown in hard condition, good mover never stopped showing.
  2. Thisby’s Dogumentary Thunder. Solid dog in tip top condition, nice wide front, good head, strong muscular neck, correct shoulder placement, good spring of rib, level top line, good tail carriage. Just lost out on movement.
  3. Cope’s Eclypstaff Fast N Furious.

LIMIT DOG

  1. Stevens & Williams’ Charmonics Ready To Rumble. Good head and strong jaw, small dark eye, muscular cheeks, good wide front, enough neck into correct shoulders, deep brisket and well muscled loin, nice bend of stifle, moved with drive and never stopped showing. Best Dog.
  2. Thomas’ Samtan Black Justice. Pleasing head and strong jaw, dark eye and small well placed ears which he used, strong neck and good shoulders, nice spring of rib, a touch long in loin, good quarters, moved and showed.

OPEN DOG

  1. Llewellyn’s Sikastaff The Dark Knight. Super head, good bite, muscular cheeks, enough stop, strong neck and good shoulders, deep brisket and good spring of rib, short in loin, good angulation, hocks well let down, shown in hard condition, moved well and never stopped showing. Reserve Best Dog.
  2. Mignano-Fricker & Fricker’s Aboriginal Boomerang Boy of Calavey. Good bone, nice head shape and correct bite, nice width to his chest, deep brisket, good neck and shoulders, level top line, correct tail carriage, strong muscular quarters, low hocks, moved and showed.
  3. Tittley & Bosanko’s Willowstaff Nats My Daddy at Garwstaff.

BEST IN SHOW was the bitch Yarham’s Englandian Simply Sinful.
